It's often said, if you can sail on Ullswater, you can sail anywhere. The reason for this is that, because of the hills and valleys, the wind can come from anywhere - whatever the general wind direction. So one minute you can be running with the wind, the next you are close-hauled.
Quite a few villagers have boats and keep them at the Spit in Glenridding, where Pete and Steve are always willing to help you launch and of course provide a vital Safety Boat service.
Village Regatta ! Well, nothing planned yet, just an idea. Very informal, perhaps an armada of local boats sailing down the lake together, perhaps stopping for a barbecue somewhere such as Silver Point Bay, maybe a fun race.
