TV Digital Switchover The analogue TV signals originating from the Caldbeck transmitter are being turned off over the next few weeks. BBC2 was switched off on the 24th June 2009. This means that all viewers in this dale who receive their television signals from the Glencoyne or Blowick transmitters must convert their televisions to receive digital tv before that date or risk having blank screens. For more information about the switchover click here. The Hartsop self-help scheme closed down some time ago and the re-transmitter for the Rookings scheme was turned off at the end of February.
Possibe changes to the planning system The Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) is reviewing the planning system and options for the local development framework are now being considered. Glenridding and Patterdale might become a centre . If you would like to know more come to the drop in session at the Information Centre on 29 May - see whats on -or check the LDNPA website.

With lambing time well under way and the recent weather having been 'changeable' to say the least, many people will have seen new born lambs wearing plastics raincoats to protect them from hypothermia. These raincoats are called Lammacs and organisers of the Lakes Alive Arts Festival are using them to advertise the event. Click here for more details.
